"Give me my scallop-shell of quiet, My staff of faith to walk upon, My scrip of joy, immortal diet, My bottle of salvation, My gown of glory, hope's true gage; And thus I'll take my pilgrimage."
Excerpt from Sir Walter Raleigh's 'His Pilgrimage' to mark the unfolding of decade number five on the ever narrowing path of NS. With love and gratitude.
A small matter – Kathleen Raine
A small matter Whether I hope To be blessed, or despair With the lost, on the last Or any day. Enough to be Part and particle Of the whole Wonder and scope Of this glory. Cannot even The condemned rejoice That the Presence Is, and is just?
How long, O you sons of men,Psalm 4:2-3
Will you turn my glory to shame?
How long will you love worthlessness
And seek falsehood?
But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly;
The LORD will hear when I call to Him.
Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.2 Corinthians 4:16-18
